The 12-inch subwoofer is the most popular size for car audio. It moves enough air for deep, full bass but still fits most trunks and many truck cabs. Choosing a 12" sub
- Power (RMS): match the sub's RMS rating to your amplifier, not the peak number.
- Impedance and voice coils: single or dual 2-ohm and 4-ohm models let you wire to the load your amp is stable at.
- Mounting depth: shallow-mount 12s fit under truck seats and in tight spaces.
- Box or no box: loaded enclosures come with the sub already mounted in a matched box.

FAQ
Sealed or ported box for a 12?
Sealed boxes give tighter, more accurate bass in less space. Ported boxes play louder and deeper for the same power but are larger.
What amp do I need for a 12-inch sub?
A mono (1-channel) amplifier whose RMS output at your final impedance matches the sub's RMS rating.
